Fine art prints of outstanding quality
The Talavera Collection is believed to be the most complete original collection of wire fox terrier champions in existence preserved on canvas.
It was created in the 1920’s and 30’s by renowned English owner and breeder Colonel HR Phipps MC OBE MFH. Whenever one of his Talavera wires was confirmed as a champion, he had it immortalised in a portrait, painted from life by eminent animal artist William Lucas Lucas.
Now his grandsons have made these paintings available to wire enthusiasts for the first time, in the form of high-quality prints, perfect reproductions of the original oil paintings.
Jewels in the crown are Ch Talavera Simon, the most famous wire fox terrier in history, and his legendary son, Romulus. Colonel Phipps’ other champions are also available as matching prints.

“My brothers and I are delighted to be able to share with you these fabulous paintings that belonged to our grandfather. It was only when they were exhibited at the Wire Fox Terrier Association Championship Show in 2005, that we fully realised their historic significance in the world of wires.
We'd like to say a big thank you to the WFTA, and especially to Beryl Kay, Honorary Secretary, for her invaluable help in establishing this website, and for allowing us to draw on the Association's unique archival material. We hope you get as much pleasure from The Talavera Collection as we do.”
